FINDING FORGIVENESS: A Rosh Hashanah Story is a lyrical picture book about a girl finding the courage to ask for forgiveness, the empathy to forgive in return, and the permission to forgive herself after a terrible fight with her sister. The story is set during Tashlich, a ceremony on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah, during which Jewish people contemplate their mistakes from the past year and symbolically “throw away” regrets by tossing bits of bread into a river, ocean, or other natural body of water. Back matter includes an author’s note, glossary, and tips for kids about how to apologize with sincerity.
