Today, a video of me reading my poem “Our Walk To School,” was featured on fellow poet Michelle Schaub’s Poetry Boost blog, www.PoetryBoost.com. This poem, which I originally wrote last Spring at the very start of the quaranine, was published in the children’s poetry anthology Hop To It: Poem’s To Get You Moving (Pomelo Books, 2020). It is about how my kids and I continued to walk to school every morning, despite the fact that school was closed. That small act gave us a semblance of “normalcy,” even amidst all the uncertainty, confusion and fear we were experiencing at the time.
Check out the video and post here.
Also, last Sunday, the same poem was featured on Sylvia Vardell’s blog Poetry For Children. Sylvia is one of the editors at Pomelo Books and brought my poem to life with some adorable children acting out their own “walk to school.” Love it! You can see that video below (on YouTube) and the full post on the blog here.
Thanks again, everyone, for all your support! 🙂
